EXHIBITION CENTERS
The exhibition program provides a dynamic center for the Parsons community
with exhibitions devoted to historical and contemporary themes in design,
the fine arts, and architecture. Its mission is to both enhance and
supplement the various academic programs, as well as introduce the
general public to significant works in the fields. Lectures, symposia
and publications are frequently produced in conjunction with the exhibitions.
Parsons Galleries update: The main floors of the four buildings that currently constitute Parsons’ main campus are under construction in preparation for the new Sheila C. Johnson Design Center, scheduled to open in the spring of 2008. The Center will provide a new urban quad for the Parsons community and create a new “front door” for the school by combining the lobbies of 70 Fifth Avenue, 68 Fifth Avenue, 66 Fifth Avenue and 2 West 13th Street. It will include meetings spaces, classrooms, a design store, renovated and expanded galleries and a new home for the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Archive.
