Parsons Graduate Wins Award

Recent Product Design graduate, Amelia Amelia (known as Amelia LNU), has received a Sustainable Steward Award for Personal Development for her thesis project "{UN}WANTED: Salvaging & Recycling of Furniture for New York City.” Sustainable Stewards are individuals who are setting an example towards community building efforts, sustainable development initiatives, and environmental preservation projects.

Parsons Announces Gift for Fashion Design Seniors

Ellen Tracy has recently made a gift to establish the Herbert Gallen Award and Internship. The award will be given out for three years to rising senior women’s fashion design students. The winners will each be granted a stipend of $10,000 and the opportunity to intern at Ellen Tracy. The company has given the gift in the hopes that the award will sponsor new talented young fashion designers to learn from one of the most renowned organizations.

Team Makes Finals in JPMorgan Chase Competition

The New School has made the finals in the 2008 JPMorgan Chase Community Development Competition, to be held on May 6 in New Orleans. This year’s competition focuses on rebuilding in New Orleans. The New School is partnering with Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans on a plan for a mixed-use, mixed-income community along the riverfront.

Parsons Thesis Exhibitions Now On View

Parsons The New School for Design is now exhibiting senior thesis projects, celebrating the work of its graduating students. Throughout May and June, Parsons will present a series of exhibitions in venues across Manhattan, representing the final works of its undergraduate and graduate students. Work is by students from the architecture, design and management, fashion studies, fine arts, illustration, integrated design, interior design, lighting, photography, and product design programs.

Students Collaborate on “Visual Music Works”

Animation students from Parsons The New School for Design and composers from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music will take the stage on Sunday, May 4, to present “visual music works,” which bring music and animation together in new and compelling ways.
